Private Beta Testing Started
Exciting news! The feed has been up and running in a private mode for the last 24 hours. So far connectivity and audio quality seems to be solid. Reception on some channels isn’t perfect, however will pass for the time being. I will be doing some more tweaking tomorrow, and unless something goes wrong I plan on opening up the feed to the public also. Stay tuned for more!

Boston PD Receive Threats
Five Boston Police stations throughout the city have received letters containing a suspicious substance. The first package was found at the D-4 (Back Bay & South End) station in at about 10:30 this morning. Soon after similar items were found at C-11 (Dorchester), E-18 (Hyde Park), D-14 (Brighton), and A-7 (East Boston). HazMat teams and Bomb Squad units are on scene at all five stations investigating the packages.
The police department is taking the threats very seriously, and media outlets report police officers are no longer riding alone in their cars and that an armored truck has been stationed at the gang head quarters.
Update 4:30pm: HazMat teams have investigated all 5 incidents and found the substance to be ground tea leaves and not harmful.

We Tweet!
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick note about something I’ve set up today, a Twitter account. My goal behind this account it to be able to send out quick updates about events as they happen in the city. You will also see notices about posts at the site pushed to the Twitter feed.
Now I don’t promise to catch everything that happens, and I don’t promise to get everything exactly correct, but I will do my best. I will only be posting about events that happen and I can actually stop to listen to them. On that note, if you know of something happening, let me know through the Contact page or on Twitter. (I plan on developing a better system later
).
So for now please follow BPDLive on Twitter!
Also, I am working on some content for the site. It will be published next week once I am closer to getting the feed online full time.

Site updates, posting, and hardware on the way!
So first off I have received the tracking code for the last piece of hardware needed to get this feed online. Unless FedEx messes things up (which in all honesty is very possible, I’ve never had a good experience with them) it should arrive in time to be put in place this weekend. That being said, there should be lots of private testing next week, followed by public testing. Once it is all working correctly, the feed will be published for everyone hopefully in a week. No promises though, things happen and I also work a full time job and then some.
That being said, the feed in its current condition will not be able to provide text tags. The radio being used (Pro-2051) does not support it, which is really unfortunate. Although you can get by without them, knowing what channel a unit is on is very helpful in understanding their location. That being said, I would like to purchase a BCT-15X to use with the feed. If you would like to help out (and I would greatly appreciate it) visit the “Donate” page I’ve set up and you can send some money through PayPal.
I’ve also added a Contact page to the site today and opened up user comments. Feel free to join in. There also seems to be a problem with images, I’m working on fixing it so if the site acts wonky or you get a holding page that’s why. Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out.
